How many Riverwalk laps does it take to build a stronger core? Trick question, and starting Thursday, November 12, downtown Tampa gets a better answer on Cumberland Avenue. [solidcore] Water Street puts downtown Tampa on our map for the first time, a short walk from Benchmark International Arena and the USF Health Morsani College of Medicine, with a grand opening celebration on Saturday, December 19.
New to [solidcore]? Our coach-led, 50-minute classes use slow, controlled resistance training on our custom reformer-inspired machine to take your muscles all the way to failure. It's boutique fitness built around one goal: creating the strongest version of you.

This is our second Tampa studio, joining [solidcore] Hyde Park, and our third in Tampa Bay alongside [solidcore] Edge District in St. Petersburg. If you work downtown and live south of Kennedy, you now get to choose your studio by where your day starts.
Downtown Tampa’s newest neighborhood keeps every kind of schedule. Med students head to class at USF Health, Lightning fans pour into Benchmark International Arena on game nights, and happy hour crowds fill the sidewalks once the workday ends. All that motion runs on legs, backs, and cores that rarely get trained on purpose. On Cumberland Avenue, that’s the entire job.
It also puts class a short walk from some of the best tables downtown. Take an evening class, then meet friends for Mediterranean at Predalina, brasserie classics at Boulon Brasserie, or oysters at The Pearl. Grab a post-workout bowl at Pura Vida, or head to Sparkman Wharf when you’d rather eat outside by the water. Fifty minutes of work, then the rest of your night a few blocks away.
Then there’s the water. The Riverwalk runs 2.6 miles from Water Street up to Armature Works, and Bayshore Boulevard adds 4.5 more for anyone circling February’s Gasparilla Distance Classic. Our soft open lands roughly fourteen weeks before race weekend: a full training block. Slow, controlled resistance builds the hips, glutes, and core that keep a stride from falling apart late in a half marathon, and it adds zero pounding to your legs between long runs. (Training for a race? Start with Run Stronger: how [solidcore] builds the strength behind every stride.) And whatever stage you're training through (pregnancy ⋅ postpartum ⋅ coming back from an injury), our coaches will meet you where you are.
Mackenzie Whitelaw leads the Water Street team as Head Coach and Community Manager. She began her [solidcore] journey as a founding coach at Hyde Park, where she later stepped into the role of Head Coach & Community Manager. Now, she's excited to take on her next chapter, opening the new Water Street studio and continuing to grow the Tampa market alongside some of the same teammates she started her journey with.
Never taken [solidcore] before? Book a Starter50, our beginner-focused format that breaks down the machine and the movements at a slower pace. Here's the full guide to choosing your first class. Fair warning: your muscles will shake. That's not a bug. It's the whole point, and here's the science behind it. Once you're hooked, here's how often to come back.
