How it works.

1
Complete a health assessment with Truemed

Answer a few private questions. A licensed practitioner reviews them and, if you qualify, issues a Letter of Medical Necessity (LMN). It usually arrives within hours, sometimes 1-2 business days. You enter card details at the end, and the $15 is only charged if your letter is issued.

2
Pay as you normally would at [solidcore]

Book and pay with your usual credit or debit card. Do NOT use your HSA/FSA card here.

3
Submit for reimbursement with your HSA/FSA administrator

Send your Letter of Medical Necessity (LMN) and your [solidcore] receipt to your administrator, such as HealthEquity, WEX or Optum. Most pay claims out in one to two weeks, if not sooner.

Frequently asked questions

What are HSA and FSA accounts, and how do they save me money?

Expand

Both are accounts you set up through your employer to pay for health expenses, funded with money taken out of your pay before tax. An HSA is usually paired with a high-deductible health plan and the balance rolls over year after year. An FSA usually does not roll over, so for most plans the money is use-it-or-lose-it by December 31.

Because that money was never taxed, it covers more than paying out of your take-home pay would. Most people save an average of 30%*, though the exact amount depends on your tax rate. This is not a [solidcore] discount, you pay our normal price, and the saving comes from how your account is taxed.

What is a Letter of Medical Necessity (LMN), and what counts as medically necessary?

Expand

It is a document from a licensed practitioner confirming that a purchase supports the treatment or prevention of a health condition. The IRS allows HSA and FSA money to be used this way when that Letter of Medical Necessity (LMN) is in place. You can read more about how a Letter of Medical Necessity works on Truemed's website.

Whether you qualify is for the practitioner to decide based on your answers in the Truemed assessment. In general, exercise is often accepted as helping to manage or prevent conditions like high blood pressure, diabetes, high cholesterol, obesity, anxiety and depression, and the assessment asks about conditions like these. Truemed works with an independent network of practitioners, so nobody at [solidcore] is involved in that decision and we never see your health information.

Are there fees for using Truemed's service?

Expand

Truemed charges $15 for the Letter of Medical Necessity (LMN), paid to them rather than to us. One LMN covers 12 months of purchases, including recurring membership charges, so it is a single fee for a year of eligible payments.

You enter your card details at the end of the assessment and complete the checkout step. The $15 is held at that point, not taken. It is only charged once your letter is issued — if you are not approved, the hold is released and you are never charged.

The 12 months start from the date your letter is issued, and only purchases made after that date qualify, so you cannot claim back anything you paid before then.

How long does the Letter of Medical Necessity (LMN) take, and how do I check on it?

Expand

Usually within hours, sometimes 1-2 business days after you finish the assessment. It arrives by email and is also available in your Truemed account.

You can log in at truemed.com to see where your application is. If it has been longer than that, check your spam folder first, then contact [email protected].

How do I pay at [solidcore]?

Expand

Exactly as you do today, with your usual credit or debit card. Memberships, class packs and single classes are all eligible. Retail items like apparel or water are not.

Do NOT use your HSA/FSA card at our checkout. We are not set up to take those cards directly. Pay normally, then submit a claim to your HSA/FSA administrator for reimbursement.

How long does reimbursement take once I submit a claim?

Expand

That depends on your HSA/FSA administrator rather than on us or Truemed. Most pay out in one to two weeks, if not sooner. You submit the claim through your administrator's own portal or app, attaching your Letter of Medical Necessity (LMN) and your [solidcore] receipt.

When should I use my HSA/FSA dollars?

Expand

If you have an FSA, sooner is better, because for most plans the money expires on December 31 and does not carry over. HSA balances roll over, so there is less urgency, though qualifying earlier means more of your purchases fall within the LMN's 12 months.

What if I am not approved, or my claim is denied?

Expand

Approval is decided by an independent licensed practitioner based on your answers, so we cannot say in advance what the outcome will be. Truemed will let you know either way. If you are not approved, the hold on your card is released and you are never charged the $15.

If your administrator denies a claim, Truemed will work with them to try to get the decision reversed, and refunds the Letter of Medical Necessity (LMN) fee. Contact them at [email protected].

What if I don't have an HSA or FSA, or don't live in the US?

Expand

You need an active HSA or FSA to take part. These are set up through your employer, usually during open enrollment, so your HR or benefits team is the place to ask. Truemed cannot open or fund an account for you.

These are US tax-advantaged accounts, and Truemed currently operates in the United States only.

I have another question. Who do I contact?

Expand

Anything about the assessment, your Letter of Medical Necessity (LMN) or reimbursement goes to [email protected], who handle it directly. Anything about your [solidcore] membership, bookings or billing, come to us as usual.
