June 2024
Rosslyn, VA
It was a bustling morning with [solidcore] employees all huddled in the lobby of their office building, budding with anticipation of the new HQ. The day started with some words from President & CEO Bryan Myers, who expressed gratitude for the people who led the charge in creating the exquisite new office space.
After that, Bryan – along with Chief Financial Officer, Nate Scott – split the company into teams to kick off the day with some [solidcore] trivia. Questions touched on all topics, from [solidcore] history to the total number of desks in the new office. The buzz from employees was evident as they waited in anticipation to see the new space.
Group by group, employees were led upstairs by their leaders to take them on a tour of the new headquarters. The 11,000+ square foot space is equipped with 66 permanent seats and additional flex seating for out-of-town visitors.“So much of our inspiration was drawn from the design of our studios. It was important to capture the spirit of the [solidcore] studio, and reinvent these moments to function within an office environment,” said Lou Benedetto, Director of Design at [solidcore]. “One of the biggest challenges to overcome was how do we address a headcount that is not only growing but has the ability to change overnight. As remote employees or field leaders regularly visit the HQ, it was important to ensure the space felt lively and active regardless of the quantity of staff on-site at any given point in time.”
Among its standout features, there is a mock studio that is designed for virtual training or exercise development, conference rooms named after [solidcore] core values, and even 1,500+ feet of [sweatlana] cables used as decor throughout. As you walk into the office, you’re greeted by a custom-made Split Flap board that rotates messages throughout the day, celebrating employee milestones or providing inspirational messages. Employees even get birthday wishes for the entire office to see! For Lou Benedetto, the subtle details make the space.
“My personal favorite detail is much more subtle,” said Lou. “Inspired by the evolution of our studio feature walls – which began as rustic pallet wood in our legacy locations – and transformed into a modernized stacked batten wood wall with black stained finish. At the office, we embodied this feature wall finish through the use of Japanese charred wood (Shou Sugi Ban). The rich leathery texture of this wood along with the natural black/charred appearance give these feature walls a very elegant look.”
Employees also have access to a stocked kitchen filled with everything they could need: a coffee machine, pebble ice, sparkling water on tap, and – of course – plenty of snacks.
Check out some of the specialty details of the new [solidcore] headquarters, from the pebble ice to the plethora of brackets everywhere.
“This space is tailored to the [solidcore] community, with ties to the history of the brand as well as cues for where we will head tomorrow,” said Lou.
With over 65 desks – that also have the ability to be raised to standing height or lowered for seating – the team at [solidcore] continues to grow. The new Rosslyn, VA office is just the newest chapter in a story of continued growth and success.
