Julie Lastra

VP, Studio Operations

Julie is the Vice President of Studio Operations. She oversees all of `{`solidcore`}`’s studio operations ensuring they operate efficiently as well as provide a consistent client experience.

Julie is a Michigan native, but has lived in several places including California, Canada, and now the Washington, D.C. area. Living in all these places fueled her passion for outdoor activities including running, skiing, and hiking. Julie heard about `{`solidcore`}` in 2014 after a ski injury left her unable to do her favorite physical activity - running. Julie was looking for an intense, low impact workout that would still give her the same feeling she got after a good, long run. She was `{`addicted`}` after her first class!

In March 2015, Julie became a `{`solidcore`}` coach for the Old Town and Ballston studios and was voted Virginia `{`solidcore`}` Coach of the Year that same year. She also served in the Studio Manager role for those studios for over two years. Prior to coming on to `{`solidcore`}` full time, Julie was a federal agent with the U.S. government for over two decades.

Julie credits `{`solidcore`}` for getting her back on the running and ski trails. When she is not in the studio you will find her running around Burke Lake with her two dogs, watching her two daughters play soccer or compete in downhill ski races, and drinking wine with family and friends.

Artemis brings her energy, intensity, and dedication to hard work from Washington, D.C. In her role at `{`solidcore`}`, Artemis brings her love for the workout and the company to new communities nationwide, by supporting new coaches, studio managers, and building community. She received a graduate degree in public health and upon entering the corporate world, she realized that she needed an outlet to unwind and compete with her inner athlete. She took on opportunities in the fitness world and never looked back.

Since Artemis was five, she has played sports; including swimming, volleyball, crew, and collegiate rugby. Soon after, she became a certified spin instructor and started teaching cycling all over the city. As much as Artemis loved the gym and hitting the weights, she realized she needed something more, something different to keep her body strong. She discovered `{`solidcore`}` after hearing about it from her sister. Artemis was addicted after her first class, discovering muscles she didn’t realize existed. She loved being challenged to push her body to new limits.

When Artemis is not in the studio coaching or taking class, you can find her playing with her furry pup Aria and spending time with her husband. She loves trying new cooking recipes and planning her next international adventure.

Charly first found `{`solidcore`}` when her friend brought her to a `{`painful`}` class and she hasn’t looked back. The charismatic coaches and incredible strength cultivated in each class had her addicted quickly and after just 12 classes she decided to become a coach. The extreme workout strengthened her yoga practice physically and mentally but she came back for the community. Charly’s first class was at the old Adams Morgan location so it felt fitting that she would take over as Studio Lead at the new Adams Morgan studio in September 2015.

Charly lives in Adams Morgan and thrives on a balance of `{`sweat`}` and `{`fun`}`. If she is not practicing/teaching yoga or `{`planking`}` in class at `{`solidcore`}` you can probably find her hunting down a delicious new cocktail. When she has a couple days to get away, spending time with family down along the Potomac River is an absolute must to reset and decompress.

Believe it or not, growing up, she was a big Tom-Boy and did whatever her older brother did. This led her to sports including soccer, basketball (barely), karate, and lacrosse.
