Julie grew up in Trenton, Michigan (right outside of Detroit) but has lived in other places including Canada where she spent all of her high school years. After graduating from Michigan State University, Julie became a Special Agent for the federal government and still serves in that position. In 2002, her job brought her to the Washington, D.C. area where she has resided ever since.
Julie has always had a passion for fitness, especially running. In her last year of college, Julie became a group fitness instructor but had to give that up when she accepted her position with the federal government. She continued with running completing several 5Ks, 10Ks, and two half marathons. While living near Lake Tahoe in California, Julie fell in love with downhill skiing. It was this activity that brought her to [solidcore]. In March 2014, Julie tore her ACL, MCL, and meniscus while skiing in Virginia. Her surgeon told her that she could not ski or run for months and she was craving a high intensity workout with low impact on her knee. Enter [solidcore]! After her first class, Julie was [addicted]. She loved the adrenaline “high” she would get after class, much like she would get after a good long run and couldn’t resist becoming a coach. Julie is back to running and downhill skiing, but her primary workout is [solidcore].
Julie lives in Springfield, Virginia with her husband, two daughters, and two dogs. Her family shares her passion for downhill skiing. Both of Julie’s daughters are on the Wintergreen Downhill Ski Race team and have won several medals in competition. Julie loves that it is an physical activity that the whole family can do together – which is important to her. On the weekend, if you don’t see her in the studio or on the slopes, chances are you will find her on a run with her dogs, Ruby and Rosie, around Burke Lake in Virginia.
